A comprehensive guide to all types of power generation plants, their design, operation, systems, equipment, and maintenance

Power Plant Equipment Operation and Maintenance Guidefocuses on the sizing, selection, operation, diagnostic testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, and refurbishment of power plant equipment such as steam turbines, gas turbines, steam generators, condensers, feedwater heaters, compressors, pumps, valves, advanced electrical generators used in wind power stations, and more.

This book also provides thorough coverage of the various types of advanced combined cycle plants, plants that allow burning of coal, petroleum coke, biomass, and municipal waste in combined cycles. The economics of these plants, as well as all their power enhancement methods, are discussed in detail.

Advanced power plant instrumentation and control systems are also covered along with computer simulation of power plants. Ten computer simulation exercises and solutions are presented. All features used to enhance reliability and maintainability of power generating plants are discussed in detail.

Solve energy problems quickly and accurately using step-by-step procedures for performing more than 500 calculations

Featuring worked out examples and numerical results, Handbook of Energy Engineering Calculationsincludes a large number of energy engineering applications—from coal, nuclear, and renewable energy to energy conservation and reuse. You will be able to obtain accurate results with minimum time and effort. Calculation procedures reflect the recent changes in green and environmental outlooks that have taken place throughout the world because of increased attention to global warming and climate change.

Handbook of Energy Engineering Calculations features:

  • Emphasis on greenhouse gas emissions, carbon dioxide emissions and release, and clean-air environmental compliance calculations that show how to control these variables
  • New calculations that show how and where energy can be conserved and reused to reduce fuel consumption and operating costs
  • Calculations-related codes and regulations that help the plant designer and operator comply with the stricter requirements throughout the world
  • Numerous new wastewater calculations
  • USCS and SI units throughout

Accurate calculations for:
Steam power generation; Internal combustion power generation; Reciprocating-engine power generation; Nuclear power generation; Renewable energy sources for green power generation; Sewage and wastewater treatment and re-use in energy options.
